People think achieving their dreams is too difficult.
If you think about how to achieve your dreams, there are three main ways.
1) Time
Kim Seung-ho, the founder of Snowfox, always said:
To become wealthy, you just need to let go of the idea of making money quickly.
And, when asked about the surest way to fail, he says that if you ‘don’t give up,’ you can achieve anything.
John Lee, who worked for Scudder, Stevens & Clark, a famous asset management firm in the U.S., always repeated the same thing.
He says stock investment is about investing in time.
My mentor always said the same thing.
He says if you try to take the easy way, you might end up in a bad situation.
However, when we want to achieve something,
we only try to go fast, without considering time, the most crucial variable.
In the world we live in, time is like salt; it’s the most essential element for achieving any dream.
Perhaps, for someone starting from scratch, investing in time might be everything.
“Even miracles take a little time.”
This line is from the Fairy Godmother in the animated film Cinderella (1950).
2) Opportunity
When you want to achieve a dream, an opportunity will surely come your way.
However, to seize an opportunity, you must have the judgment to recognize it.
In other words, opportunities are only available to those who can see them.
The most important thing when judging an opportunity is ‘balance.’
Good things are always accompanied by bad, and happiness is always followed by misfortune.
And when misfortune comes, happiness is sure to follow.
This is a truth of our lives, and perfectly good things are rare.
3) People
Meeting someone can also be a truly valuable turning point in life.
My mentor always said:
Successful people associate with other successful people, and unsuccessful people associate with other unsuccessful people.
He said that the probability of success is lower than expected, even if unsuccessful people gather and put their heads together to solve problems.
His point was clear.
It meant that new things become visible when you change your environment.
How to win people’s hearts.
No matter how much I think about it, material things… that is, ‘money’ is the most important.
It’s true that you can’t get everything with money, but you can still get many things.
Things like affection between people can sometimes feel more genuine through ‘material things’ than through ‘sincerity.’
People are susceptible to ‘gifts’ and ‘kind words and actions.’
Supervisors who see people flattering in the workplace sometimes dismiss them as sycophants who only speak pleasantries, but most people, even if they recognize it as flattery, highly value the ‘effort’ and ‘devotion’ shown in trying so hard for them.
Fyodor Dostoevsky once said:

“Money makes all inequalities equal.”
No other sentence expresses the absolute nature of money as clearly as this.
For someone longing for human warmth, a kind word holds great value.
A bowl of ramen bought when hungry is more precious than a steak bought when full.
However, money is different.
Whether you have 1 million won, 10 million won, or 100 million won…
100,000 won is the same for everyone. It doesn’t spoil like food.
It’s hard to say that 100,000 won for someone who has it is less valuable than 100,000 won for someone who doesn’t.
This is due to the absolute nature of money.
